"Chance Gearhart is a genius-level problem solver. In my capacity as Executive Director
of the largest organization serving bereaved youth and families in New Mexico (The Grief
Center of New Mexico, www.griefnm.org), it was my honor to work beside Chance as he
volunteered in multiple roles over nearly a decade.
Chance is a quick learner, and a reliable implementor of challenging and nuanced skills.
HIs roles at the Center included facilitating grief support groups for youth, and serving as a Big
Buddy in our Camp Corazon program, which is a marathon of emotional regulation and practical
support for bereaved youth ages 7 - senior in high school.
As an IT professional, Chance has an analytical nature, but as a volunteer at the Grief
Center, his emotional intelligence took center stage. He is reliable, dedicated, innovative and
incredibly kind...and somehow manages to provide all of those assets to the world in a fun,
inclusive manner."
"I worked with Chance from 2016-2019 at University of New Mexico Hospitals and Health Sciences Center. I initially brought him on board as a contract Network Engineer to augment our Network Team when I was the Director of Network & Infrastructure, and then we hired him as a full-time employee when the contract term ended. I directly supervised him for much of that time as I transitioned into the role of Chief Information Officer for UNM Health Sciences Center (which includes UNM Hospitals).
Chance brought many skills to the team. In addition to the typical Network centric skills with switches/routers/WAN/LAN/etc, he brought a deep knowledge of servers and virtualization that allowed him to bridge some of the cultural gaps between different specialties within our IT environment. Chance was without question the engineer that I would give tasks to that required good collaboration between different areas and his calm demeanor diffused the interpersonal/interdepartmental drama that would sometimes creep up in a large organization. In fact, some of my most demanding customers would request Chance by name for their projects.
During his time at UNMH/HSC he took ownership of several key systems including a completely new implementation of SolarWinds network monitoring to give us better alerting and usage tracking than our environment had ever had. He also played a key role in resolving long standing performance problems that predated his time with us with two critical vendor systems.
UNM Health Sciences Center is a hybrid environment consisting of the clinical care components; UNM Hospitals, Sandoval Regional Medical Center, UNM Medical Group, and UNM Cancer Center as well as the education and research components which include the Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy, and Population Health and the School of Medicine. In Chance's role he needed to support all of those customers and balance their needs."
"I highly recommend Chance Gearhart as a candidate for employment. I was associated with Chance as a student at ITT Tech.
While a student, it was a privilege to know Chance and work with him on various assignments.
Chance has a wonderful rapport with people and an in-depth knowledge of the topics we studied. His ability to connect with other students and his talent at conveying simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior. He has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is extremely organized, reliable and computer literate. I observed that Chance is able to work independently and is able to follow through to ensure that the job gets done. He accomplishes these tasks with great initiative and with a very positive attitude.
I recommend Chance to you without reservation."
"I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Chance Gearhart since 2020. Chance’s deep technical knowledge spans network architecture, systems administration, and advanced cybersecurity protocols; making him a valuable resource in maintaining both system performance and security. His collaborative nature and commitment to his work make him a strong and dependable team member to any potential employer. I highly recommend Chance for roles requiring advanced network engineering, systems administrations, and cybersecurity skills,as he would be a tremendous asset to any organization."
